constant stream of updates throughout surgery.
"Friends and family members who experience less anxiety while wait-
ing for surgeries to be completed are able to focus more on taking care
of their loved ones during the recovery period," he continues. "Patients
in turn have a better experience because they're surrounded by relaxed
caregivers. They feed off that calm energy."
Technology and social media are in some way responsible for ruin-
ing personal connections, according to Dr. Reza. "Electronic patient
communication has the opposite impact," he adds. "Its use is an
example of technology actually fostering and helping to build human
connection rather than tearing it apart."
