Our monitors are mounted on pivoting booms. Operated by touch-screen technology, the monitors' integrated video/audio systems serve multiple functions, from projecting live video feeds of our scopes to greeting patients with soft music and dim lights. Since May, though, our nurses have also turned them into entertainment centers. Using the same controls we use dur- ing surgery, we can stream cartoons and movies for children from the web onto the monitors. With their easy mobility, they swing right to the bedside.
