They ask them to confirm their name, the type and location of procedure they're about to undergo and the IOL diopter if the scheduled case is a cataract proce- dure. The nurses then compare the patients' responses to the informa- tion that's on patient-specific sheets our center's scheduler printed out the night before. There's also a space for the nurses to note the patients' medication allergies. After the pre-op time outs, the sheets are brought into the ORs, where they're hung on centrally located whiteboards.
