she didn't quite expect:
"Don't worry. We'll take care
of it."
A surgery scheduler called
the Mackinac Bridge
Authority and arranged to
have the patient and her
husband driven across the
bridge. The same scheduler
then met the couple on the
northern side and escorted
them to the facility so the
patient could have her
colonoscopy. Afterward, the
scheduler made arrange-
ments to have husband and
wife taken back to their
waiting camper.
"That's the kind of effort
that makes a huge differ-
ence, and it's just one example of the kinds of things we're willing to
do for patients every day," says Kathy Weihman, RN, BSN, a surgical
nurse with the multispecialty surgical facility. "Exceeding patients'
