S
tash your powered devices on a single
cart to clear clutter. Our surgery cen-
ter used to place each power device on
its own stand in the OR. This created a lot of
clutter and crisscrossed cords on the floor. To
clear some space, I placed several power
devices used in our ortho and neuro cases on
a single "Frankensteined" cart. I first found an
old cart that was no longer in use and had a
built-in power strip. Then I placed several
pieces of equipment, like our sequential com-
pression devices and generators, on the cart
and plugged them into the power strip. It took
some trial and error to stack the devices in a way that was practical,
but now staff can simply plug in the cart's single cord to power sever-
al pieces of equipment at once.
