f gowns and gloves get
opened during a procedure,
but don't get used (and
aren't soiled), don't discard them.
Keep them in a central area. Staff
or anesthesia can use them if
they get cold, they can be used in
non-sterile procedures or during
cleaning and reprocessing. The same goes for any supply that you
have in your custom packs (for example, towels). If they're
unused during a procedure, try to find another use and recycle.

efore you buy any type of equipment,
you want to see it in action at a facility
where it's in use, then trial it in your
own ORs. You can save a lot of time and effort
by looking up product demonstration videos
online, at YouTube and other websites. Many
manufacturers and even other facilities have posted such videos featur-
ing a wide range of products, from which you can learn a lot about
them and then decide which ones you'd like to travel to see during site
visits or arrange temporary installations.
