the chart. It's then signed by the
front desk/admissions person,
pre-op nurse, circulator, surgery
tech and PACU nurse. If any addi-
tional staff are
involved with the
patient, such as a
CNA or
transporter/orderly,
they also sign. The
circulator also writes
in the name of the
surgeon and anesthe-
siologist. The card
thanks the patient for
choosing our facility
and wishes him well
through his recovery.
This simple gesture
has made a big differ-
ence in our customer
service scores. It's a
pleasant surprise to
patients that we care
enough to send them
this signed card. They
often mention the
cards when we do
our follow-up call,
too.

RoboticArmCheck
Test for Cleanliness in
less than 30 Seconds
Improper cleaning of Robotic Arms can lead to the
build-up of bioburden inside of the instrument -
representing not only a source of cross-contamination to
patients, but shortening the useful life of the instrument
itself. Sample the inside of the robotic arm with a
moistened swab, and expose the swab to a simple
reagent test. A color change to green/blue indicates that
blood remained in the lumen of the instrument, requiring
recleaning. No color change indicates the instrument is
clean and is ready for the next step in reprocessing.
Visit us during AORN at booth 4630 to learn
more about the RoboticArmCheck and enter
for your chance to win an iPad Mini!
