o prevent fiberoptic endoscopes
from bending or breaking before
and after use, we mounted about 3
inches of PVC pipe on the side of our
anesthesia cart. We keep the endoscope
in its plastic sleeve and slide it through
the PVC holder to keep it safe and secure.

nce dry, Duraprep, the antiseptic skin prep agent containing
iodine povacrylex and isopropyl alcohol, stands
up to blood and saline. In fact, it won't
wear off for a while. Unlike plain povidone-iodine,
which rinses off with water, it can take days for
the painted-on prep to wear off. But alcohol-based
hand sanitizer makes it easy to remove excess
Duraprep.
