Page 26 IDEAS That Work PACK TO PREPARE Save a Few Minutes By Bagging Case Supplies When a room's schedule is packed with carpal tunnel procedures, maybe 6 or 7 in a row, having supplies packed and ready to go at the beginning of the day can help make your staff more efficient. We gather up the necessary tourniquets, cotton undercast padding and clear adhesive drapes and place one of each into an individual plastic bag for each case of the day. That way we don't have to run around pulling each supply during the turnovers for each case. This may only save a few minutes per case, but minutes add up. Martha Andres, MSN, BSN, RN Mayo Clinic Hospital Phoenix, Ariz. andres.martha@mayo.edu GET THEM READY Packaging tourniquets, padding and drapes together helps to speed setups between carpal tunnel cases.
