GI center, sometimes seeing 30 to 50 patients a day, so there are plenty of beds to change throughout the day. When you're doing that many turnovers, anything you can do to speed the process makes a difference. So when we receive the laundered linens from our supplier, we bundle up everything we need to make a bed. Staffers take a few minutes of downtime early in the morning or at the end of the day to wrap a fitted sheet, pillowcase, patient gown and 2 bath blankets together. It's a real time saver to be able to grab a bundle and go make the bed, instead of fumbling for each individual item. The bundles store neatly in the linen closet, and they make it easy to count inventory at a glance to know you'll have enough to cover the next day's cases.
