Page 16 IDEAS THAT WORK QUICK MEET AND GREET Get Family and Friends to PACU Before the Patient RAPID REPORT A patient's relatives should be in PACU before the patient arrives. Nothing will slow your schedule more than forcing your surgeons to wait while you round up a patient's relatives and herd them back to the recovery room so they can hear the surgeon's report. Instead of waiting for the case to end, escort family members back to the recovery area before the case is completed so the physician can speak to them and then quickly move onto the next procedure. This simple idea will save you so much time. It will also keep your surgeons happy and your schedule moving. Kelly Joyce, RN DDC Surgery Center Jackson, Tenn. kelly.joyce@transsouth.com
