CLUTTER-FREE OR
Homemade Hangers
Keep Cords Off Floors
Make hangers out of 3/16 stainless rod and use them throughout your ORs to hang cords and cables from surgical tables, equipment booms and equipment carts. You can buy the rod in bulk
(tinyurl.com/q3lfxtz), cut segments to the desired lengths and bend them into hooks. Wide bends can be done by hand, but tighter hooks will require heating the rod with a propane torch, placing it in a vice and bending it to the desired shape. A handy member of your staff can do the heating and bending at home with the right tools, or you may have to enlist the help of your facility's maintenance staff. Either way, the hangers are an inexpensive and effective way to keep your cords and cables organized, and walkways clear of tripping hazards.
