LIGHT READING
Keep Patients Informed
and Entertained Before Surgery
T
he PowerPoint deck dis-
played on one of the flat
screen monitors in our
lobby runs on a loop and includes
answers to commonly asked
patient questions and bios of staff
and surgeons. The bios include
traditional professional back-
ground information, as well as
light-hearted nuggets such as a
surgeon's favorite saying or a
staff member's favorite sports
team. Patients actively watch it.
They love it and often laugh out
loud in the waiting room, which
plays a key part in them being
relaxed before their surgeries.
The information also leads to
some fun and interesting conver-
sations when patients ask mem-
bers of their care team about the
fun facts they read while waiting
for their surgeries.
