to offset the purchase costs: Our vendor also gave us trade-in credit — $2,500 to $5,000 per scope — for our old models. Clear benefits Our physicians are much happier and more satisfied with our proce- dure rooms since the renovation. Before the upgrade, we rarely had our full line of scopes available because 2 or 3 of them would be out for repair at a time. Now, physicians work in suites outfitted with the latest technology and with a full complement of HD scopes. The upgrade to HD lets them perform more thorough examinations in less time; our average colonoscopy screenings take 15 minutes instead of 30 minutes. We're now able to perform as many as 46 screenings a day in each of our procedure rooms and our new reprocessors, which let us turn over individual scopes an average of 3.8 times per day, have helped us keep pace with the increased vol- ume. Since completing the upgrade, our monthly case volume has jumped from 300 to between 400 and 475. Best of all, we're able to diagnose and treat our patients with the best care possible and our physicians are removing more polyps than ever. One physician said it best when asked about the equip- ment upgrades: "This is what we needed all along."
