personalized service that meets your specific needs." Mr. Henderson says he typically receives repaired scopes within 72 hours of shipping them to the third-party service company. 6. What's included? What specific repairs and services are covered? What happens if a repair goes wrong and who's responsible for fixing the situation? What kind of responsibility does the repair company have in terms of getting the scope fixed correctly and in a timely fashion? Discuss those issues before signing any service contract and make sure the stipulations you agree upon appear in writing before signing off on the deal. And don't forget to ask about value-added services. "One of best perks from our company is that they take pictures of the inside of an entire scope when they receive it," says Mr. Henderson. "They send us pictures of the damages that were found along with an estimate for the repairs that they will be doing." Once the repair is finished, the company sends another set of pic- tures of the completed repairs along with an image taken from the repaired scope, he adds. Done, and done right You likely don't have room in your capital budget to fill your facility with extra instruments in case one of your primary scopes needs to be taken out of the regular rotation. "That's why you must make sure that whatever company you go with is able to send back scopes fully repaired within an acceptable period of time," says Mr. Henderson. "Because if they don't come back in good shape, you'll have to send them back out for more repairs, and that results in more work than you should have to do."
