• Edwards' Predictive
Hypotension Management
could be a real asset with
certain high-risk patients (it's
connected to an arterial line,
so your providers won't be
using it in outpatient cases).
Applying algorithms based
on more than 200,000 patient
events, it analyzes cardiovas-
cular vital signs and sounds an alarm when the "hypotension prediction
index" reaches a dangerous level, letting providers take proactive meas-
ures.
• Here's another technology that
would be more directed toward your
providers' bigger surgeries, but it
could be very useful in those scenar-
ios. Instrumentation Laboratory's
Rotem Delta provides differential diag-
nostics information of coagulopathies
to optimize transfusion decisions. If
blood isn't clotting the way you want it
to, it tells you, so you can tailor the
way you administer blood products,
transfusions and platelets, or you can
take other appropriate measures.
