FUN RIDE TO THE OR
Climb Aboard the Worm Wagon
W
e've got our
worm wagon
and the kids
love it. To relieve anxiety
and give our pediatric
patients something excit-
ing to look forward to,
we purchased a bright
red and yellow wagon in
the shape of a worm to
transport kids ages 3 to 6
from the pre-op holding
area to the OR.
It's a cute, friendly look-
ing worm, which we
bought from a company
that makes wagons for healthcare facilities. It's roomy, equipped with
a seatbelt and there's an area where we can attach an IV pole if we
need to.
The kids are still awake, they're sitting up, they have one of their
favorite stuffed animals or toys with them and they're excited and
more relaxed when they leave mom and dad for the 500-foot ride to
the OR.
